The Coalition government has stepped up its process of decentralisation and devolution of power to local authorities and their communities. Local authorities will have the liberty to make decisions about allocation of resources free from central government guidelines. An increasing role for the VCS to deliver public services is expected. VCS organisations are expected to have a key role to play in identifying needs as well as delivering services. The Sita Trust's Enhancing Communities Programme provides grants of up to £60,000 for projects that make physical improvements to community facilities and historic buildings/structures. The Big Lottery Fund will be launching its £10million Big Potential fund this summer to help small charities and social enterprises attract social investment.

Social Incubator North fund

The Social Incubator North fund has been launched, with the first call for applications open until Monday 1 July, with at least two further calls to be made over the next two years.
