What is this consultation asking people to comment on?

We are asking for people's views on whether our updated Code of practice provides a consistent and lawful approach to obtaining, using, disclosing and handling confidential personal information across all areas of CQC's work. We are asking whether the Code of practice is clear and easy to follow, and fully explains why and how we may need to use people's confidential personal information, and whether it reassures people that by following this Code, their information will be handled safely and appropriately at all times.

New Dementia Profile Tool

PHE’s National Dementia Intelligence Network has published a new Dementia Profile on Fingertips, presenting a major change in the way dementia data will be used. This is the first time that transparent and bespoke comparison of data across the whole dementia care pathway has been made available in one, interactive online platform.

In turn, this will support a more targeted and tailored inspection programme that allows CQC to inspect services rated good and outstanding less frequently and to lend greater support to those performing less well.

NHS England’s Patient Choice Unit is holding a series of regional patient engagement events to find out what patients know about their legal rights to choice and how they would like to receive information about their outpatient appointment options. The findings from these events will inform improvements to the national patient choice programme and will help to shape a national awareness raising campaign.
