The voluntary and community sector has made significant contributions to health and wellbeing, often reaching areas and communities that have been difficult to reach by mainstream health and social care providers. One East Midlands aims to keep the voluntary and community sector informed about these changes and where possible contribute to policy and strategy development.

Archbishop Tutu becomes patron of One EM member

Leicestershire AIDS Support Services (LASS), a full member of One East Midlands and the Health and Social Care Network, has announced that it is honoured to welcome Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu in the new role of their International Patron.

This is the first time in its history that LASS has sought the support of the patron and the Archbishop's acceptance of the position reflects the variety of challenges that working in HIV presents and comes as LASS prepares to launch their 25th Anniversary Year in June.

One East Midlands member receives Big Society Award

One East Midlands would like to congratulate Serve, a charity based in Northamptonshire that delivers a range of support services to older people in the county, on their Big Society Award, the first to be awarded to an organisation in the region.
