The voluntary and community sector has made significant contributions to health and wellbeing, often reaching areas and communities that have been difficult to reach by mainstream health and social care providers. One East Midlands aims to keep the voluntary and community sector informed about these changes and where possible contribute to policy and strategy development.

New Better Data webpage

One East Midlands has launched a new web page for ‘Better Data: Making the third sector business case for health improvement in the East Midlands’, which has been designed to support the development of the wider integration and transformation agenda across health and social care.

Analysis of health and educational benefits of sport and culture

This report further develops the evidence base around the social and wellbeing value of culture and sport. By better understanding the social impact and value of these sectors, it is hoped that it will help others to make the case at the local level for both the wider benefits of culture and sport and the potential of sports and culture based interventions to achieve wider social outcomes e.g. health and wellbeing improvements.

Funding for peer support projects in 9 pilot areas (including Northamptonsshire)

MIND plan to make 45 grants of between £5,000 and £15,000 to organisations that want to offer peer-led peer support to more people, and work with us to build an evidence base for the effectiveness of peer support.

One East Midlands has published a policy briefing on the principles of transformation in the health and social care sector, summarising the reforms taking place and how the VCS might respond to them.

What training can you offer to health professionals and commissioners?

One East Midlands is creating a directory of training offered by the VCS for the benefit of health and social care professionals. If you offer bespoke courses which support better health outcomes and might be of interest to the health workforce then we would like to include it.

EMVY Network Forum Event 2013: Young People and Health - 23 October, Nottingham
