Funding opportunities for young people

The Partnerships strand of the Youth in Action Programme provides support to partnership projects with regional or local public bodies or with organisations active in the youth sector at European level. Grants of up to €100,000 per project are available for up to 50 percent of total eligible costs and the deadline for applications is 5 September. The Youth Workers' Mobility (Youth Support Systems) strand of the Youth in Action programme aims to support youth workers' mobility and exchanges with a view to promoting the acquisition of new skills and competences in order to enrich their profile as professionals in the youth field, as well as to help them better adapt to the changing needs of young people. It will also contribute to the capacity-building and the development of the structures involved. The total budget for 2013 is estimated at €755,000, the maximum grant is €25,000 and the deadline for applications is 10 September. The Henry Smith Charity is a large grant making charity that funds initiatives and projects that address social inequality and economic disadvantage. Priority is given to work with groups experiencing social and/or economic disadvantage and work that tackles problems in areas of high deprivation, including projects maximising the potential of young people who experience educational, social and economic disadvantage, including young people in, or leaving, care. The Truemark Trust aims to fund small, local charities, especially neighbourhood based community projects and innovative work with less popular groups, with young people being one of the priority categories. The average grant awarded is between £1,000 and £2,000 and the Trust makes between 100 and 150 awards a year. The Barrow Cadbury Trust, which convenes the Transition to Adulthood (T2A) programme, is seeking expressions of interest for grant funding towards the delivery of services aimed at supporting young adults at distinct points throughout the criminal justice process. These projects are intended to illustrate how a ‘T2A Pathway' could be delivered. The Barrow Cadbury Trust anticipates grant-funding six projects, each running for up to three years. Each project is likely to be quite different, and operating at different points of the T2A Pathway and Up to £50,000 funding is available per project per year, for up to three years, with the expectation that they will be match-funded to create a higher overall budget. The Sylvia Adams Charitable Trust supports organisations working with children and young people, especially those with a disability, living in poverty or who are disadvantaged. It normally does not consider localised UK projects outside Hertfordshire, but for 2013/14 it is applying a more flexible geographic criteria for projects which address rural poverty in the UK.
