The RaRE Study (Risk and Resilience Explored) has made important progess in expanding the current knowledge about why LGBT mental health is poorer than that of the mainstream population. The results paint a vivid picture of what helps LGB&T people become a psychologically healthy human being and of what may hinder that process.

The research study began in 2010 and investigated the inequalities in mental health experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in England. The research was led by LGBT Mental Health Charity PACE in partnership with academics from Brunel University, University of Worcester and London South Bank University and was funded by the Big Lottery Fund.
