Accounts Count

The Directory of Social Change has published a report, entitled Accounts Count, where they asked funders whether they check the Charity Commission website for information on registered charities who have made applications.

The Charity Commission highlights groups whose accounts arrive late on its website by adding a red border to their entry.

Half the funders said they checked the Charity Commission records, and of those 17 percent would immediately reject applications from charities which had not submitted their accounts on time.

DSC message to groups is to never give a funder an excuse to turn you down. Sending accounts late suggests groups are not very organised, and that can put potential funders off.
