Funding opportunities for young people

The Daphne III 2013 Call for Action Grants are European grants aimed at preventing and combating violence against children, young people and women, and protecting victims and groups at risk. Initially, projects should be for no more than two years and grants will be for a minimum of €75,000 for up to 80 percent of eligible project costs. The Heritage Lottery Fund’s Young Roots programme provides grants of £10,000 to £50,000 to projects that engage young people with heritage in the UK. Applications can be submitted at any time. Sport England Small Grants make awards of between £300 and £10,000 to not-for-organisations to help more people play sport, with the aim of getting more people playing more sport more often and a focus on young and disabled people. The Prince's Countryside Fund provides grants of up to £50,000 to provide training opportunities for young people. The next deadline for applications is Thursday 24 October. For further information visit www.princescountrysidefund.org.uk/page/apply-funding.

The Youth Justice Board Evidence Awards 2013 will award two prizes of £5,000, one for well-designed practice and the other for well-conducted evaluation. The funding is to be used to further improve intervention design and evaluation, and the winners will be announced at this year's Youth Justice Convention in November. The Bernard Sunley Charitable Foundation provides grant funding for capital projects which aim to help raise the quality of life in the UK, particularly for the young, disadvantaged and older people. Grants are divided into the categories of community; education; arts; health; social welfare; amateur sport; emergency and armed forces; environment; and animal welfare. The Wakeham Trust provides grants to help people rebuild their communities. They are particularly interested in projects involving community service by young people, neighbourhood projects, community arts projects, or projects set up by those who are socially excluded. The Hilton in the Community Foundation wants to help young people have a brighter future by investing in improving access to education and investing in the improvement of health care. It supports projects focusing on children and young people with disabilities; children and young people who are sick in hospital; young people who are homeless; and young people and children who are life limited and require palliative care. It does not generally make awards of more than £30,000 per year to one organisation, applications are considered quarterly and the next deadline for applications is Tuesday 15 October. The Clore Poetry and Literature Awards is a £1million initiative aimed at funding poetry and literature initiatives for children and young people across the UK from 2011 - 2015. The overall objective of the programme is to provide young people under the age of 19 years with the opportunity to experience poetry, literature, and creative writing both inside and outside of school, in compelling and exciting forms. The deadline for round six of the programme, which provides grants of £1,000 to £10,000, is 5pm on Friday 7 March 2014. Youth Music has announced grants of up to £250,000 to support projects that provide music-making activities for children and young people, especially young people in challenging circumstances.
