Youth justice system

The government has published its response to the Justice Select Committee report on the youth justice system.

In the response it agrees that looked-after children should not be charged with criminal offences as a result of behaviour that would not lead to police involvement in the family home.

Following the Youth Justice Reinvestment Pathfinder Initiative, the government also states that is not currently persuaded of the benefits of devolving custody budgets in full to local authorities.
