Young people and mentoring

MDRC has published a report evaluating how young people's levels of risk effect their relationships with mentors, and the benefits they derive from mentoring.

The report found that mentored youth in all risk groups reported fewer depressive symptoms, greater acceptance by their peers, more positive beliefs about their ability to achieve in school, and better academic performance.

Recommendations by the report include training and support for matches should be tailored to the types and levels of risk experienced by youths and mentoring should be broadly available.
