Sport England Inspired Facilities Fund

The fourth round of the Inspired Facilities scheme, part of Sport England’s Places People Play programme, is now open.

The scheme is part of Sport England’s goal to deliver a London 2012 legacy of increased mass participation in sport, and it will have invested £50 million of National Lottery funding in around 1,000 community sports projects between 2011 and 2014.

VCS organisation and public sector organisations from across England can apply once again for funding to refurbish and upgrade existing sports facilities or develop an existing building for sports use in the community.

VCS Organisations can apply for grants worth between £20,000 and £50,000. At least 70% of the available funding available is set aside for these groups. Local authorities, statutory bodies and education establishments can apply for grants between £20,000 and £150,000.

Applicants to the scheme must show:

  • How their project will keep and, ideally, attract more people to sport.
  • Their local community wants and needs the project.
  • How the project will cover its running costs and remain open for sporting use for years to come.

The application deadline for Round 4 is 29 April. Round 5 will open from 21 October to 16 December.
