BIG Lottery’s BIG Local Programme

50 communities have joined the existing 100 areas allocated up to £1million Lottery funding through the Big Lottery Fund’s (BIG) Local Programme. In this programme, residents themselves will decide how to improve their areas.

The areas have been specifically picked by BIG as ones that have previously been overlooked for funding and investment, and that face a range of pressing issues such as unemployment and crime. The BIG Local Programme aims to build a community capable not only of spending cash but of also of securing more in the future.  In the East Midlands, the following areas have received funding from the BIG Local programme of up to £1million each.

• Kingswood and Hazel Leys - Corby
• Langold and Carlton - Nottinghamshire
• St Matthew's Estate - Leicester
• Lumbertubs, Lings, Goldings and Blackthorn - Northampton
• Warsop Parish - Nottinghamshire
• Big Local Allenton - Derby
• Mablethorpe, Trusthorpe and Sutton on Sea - Lincolnshire
• Kirk Hallam - Derbyshire
• Grassmoor with Hasland - Derbyshire
• Elmton with Creswell - Derbyshire
• Central Boston - Lincolnshire
