Talent Match - Embedding the voice and ideas of young people 20/09/12

The Steering Group are very grateful for the involvement of Endeavour, Notts YMCA, Notts County Football in the Community and Sporting Futures and to the young people who attended the first meeting.  In particular we thank these organisations and young people for helping us all think about how we open up the dialogue to many more young people across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

Moving forward we will be holding supported discussion sessions in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire (supported by Notts YMCA and Endeavour).  From these sessions we will be seeking to recruit a panel of young people who will interview and appoint the Lead Partner and provide a reference point to help shape the delivery Prospectus.

We will be circulating dates and times of discussion meetings imminently but if you would like to host your own local meeting or focus group to discuss the challenges of youth unemployment and potential opportunities in your area then the Steering Group would love to hear from you.  We would also be grateful of any insight and intelligence that can help us to identify the numbers of young people affected, any geographical focus / hotspots and the ideas and views of young people with additional needs and challenges.  These might include:

  • young parents
  • offenders and ex-offenders
  • homeless young people and care leavers
  • young carers
  • addiction or substance misuse
  • physical, mental and learning disabilities
  • rural isolation / access to transport and jobs
  • social or equality factors such as sexuality, gender identity or ethnicity
  • long term unemployed – where suitable jobs or opportunities just aren’t available or accessible

Additional information about how young people and organisations supporting young people can get involved will be made available on our website at www.oneeastmidlands.org.uk/talentmatch  or you can contact us via talentmatch@one-em.org.uk
