Safe Network Regional Meeting: East Midlands

The Safe Network, which provides information and resources to help keep children safe, is inviting colleagues from the VCS and its statutory partners to a free regional network meeting at Nottingham CVS on Thursday 4 July from 10am to 1pm.

£14million Centre for Social Action Innovation Fund

The Centre for Social Action’s £14million Innovation Fund has opened for applications, and is offered to commercial organisations and public sector bodies as well as charities and social enterprises.

Funding opportunities for young people

The Heritage Lottery Fund has re-launched its Young Roots grants programme, aimed at providing young people aged between 11 and 25 years-old with active roles in planning and delivering their own heritage projects. The rolling programme, which has an annual budget of £4million, awards grants of between £10,000 and £50,000. For further information visit www.hlf.org.uk/YoungRoots.

BOND Masterclass: Mental Health of children and young people

Taking place at YMCA Cambridge on Monday 20 May and BCVS, Birmingham on Friday 7 June, this free one day masterclass aims to help delegates navigate their way through the latest thinking on mental health as it applies to VCS organisations working with looked after children' and young people who offend. 

Dangerous dogs

Research by a University of Middlesex criminologist has found that young people are increasingly using dangerous dogs to make money and protect themselves during illegal transactions such as drug deals and debt collecting. 

Young men and domestic violence

Findings from the Boys to Men Project, looking at boys’ and young men’s experiences and attitudes towards domestic abuse, have been published.
