The Coalition government has stepped up its process of decentralisation and devolution of power to local authorities and their communities. Local authorities will have the liberty to make decisions about allocation of resources free from central government guidelines. An increasing role for the VCS to deliver public services is expected. VCS organisations are expected to have a key role to play in identifying needs as well as delivering services. The deadline for applications to be the Lead partner is 5pm on 1st October. After this date a sub group with no conflict of interest will check organisations can pass the Big Lottery’s criteria before a panel of young people interview the shortlisted organisations.

£40million Olympics legacy trust

The Big Lottery Fund is planning to launch a new Olympics legacy trust with the proceeds of its share from the sale of the athletes’ village. They plan to set up the trust over the next three months and then invite bids.
