The Coalition government has stepped up its process of decentralisation and devolution of power to local authorities and their communities. Local authorities will have the liberty to make decisions about allocation of resources free from central government guidelines. An increasing role for the VCS to deliver public services is expected. VCS organisations are expected to have a key role to play in identifying needs as well as delivering services. This page deals with policies that have an impact on funding, commissioning and procurement for the VCS.

The Big Lottery Fund has announced the 15 local partners, including Framework Housing Association in Nottingham, which will lead the charge to bid for between £4million and £10million to support those with multiple needs in their local areas.

The Big Sell – Post event resources

One East Midlands, in partnership with Children England, organised The Big Sell on Wednesday 3 October 2012 at East Midlands Conference Centre, Derby. The conference aimed to help the third sector promote themselves as suppliers of choice to the public and private sectors and develop practical tools to support the development of robust internal third sector markets.

Update on becoming a BIG Assist programme provider

The BIG Assist programme will work to deliver quality support to VCS infrastructure organisations, both local and specialist, across England. Delivery of this support will be by quality suppliers, who will be approved by an Independent Review Panel.

Talent Match - Appointment of a lead

One EM has received six applications for Lead Partner. Applications are currently being screened for due diligence following which eligible applicants will be invited to attend interviews on the afternoons of the 5th or 8th October.

The Steering Group has been working with a small group of young people to develop the Big 5 questions; questions to help us share information provided by young people about what works and doesn’t work in relation to finding meaningful employment opportunities.
