Submit your thoughts on impact measurement tools

Inspiring Impact, a UK-wide collaboration between eight organisations, developed and delivered in partnership with the non-profit sector, wants your thoughts on the impact measurement tools you think are important to the sector.

The long-term vision of Inspiring Impact is to make high quality impact measurement the norm for charities and social enterprises by 2022. This includes measuring social impact and using the data produced to manage and increase impact and share findings.

This request for your thoughts on impact measurement tools is part of their contribution to the Data, Tools and Systems strand of the programme, which is being led on by Substance. They are interested in finding out about the tools, particularly those available online or which have the potential to be made available online, that help you:

  • Gather and manage performance data
  • Tell a story about organisations' work
  • Measure the social impact of service or sector provision
  • Measure the economic or social value of service or sector provision
  • Benchmark performance within an organisation or across a sector

The information provided will be used to help build an initial catalogue of tools that Inspiring Impact hope can be presented in an online impact measurement marketplace to be developed during the second year of the Inspiring Impact programme.

Substance will be organising further consultation exercises to gain a more detailed understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of these tools and what helps or hinders funders and providers in their selections later this year, before giving consideration to the best ways to making them more accessible to the sector.
