One EM member announced as BIS pilot scheme partnership member

Derbyshire Learning and Skills Consortium, a member of One East Midlands, has been announced as one of 15 partnerships across the country have been invited to take part in a pilot scheme that will give communities more power to choose which adult learning courses are available in their area.

The Department for Business Innovation and Skills Community Learning Trusts will involve colleges, adult education services, businesses and VCS organisations working together with their surrounding communities to provide courses that local people want.

Beginning in August, the pilot partnerships will work to boost the number of people participating in learning, motivate and help people who are disadvantaged, have a positive impact on people’s lives and generate income to reinvest in learning.

Derbyshire Learning and Skills Consortium will work in partnership with the Derby Adult Learning Service and the Learning for Living group in the Derby Community Learning Trust, the only one of the 15 pilot partnerships in the East Midlands.
