The What About YOUth survey by the Health and Social Care Information Centre, Ipsos Mori and the National Children’s Bureau and funded by the Government, asks young people about important subjects about their health and lifestyles and will eventually be used to make improvements to the health of young people. Public Health England and The Child & Maternal Health Intelligence Network have produced the Children and Young People’s Health Benchmarking Tool. The online resource presents a selection of indicators that are most relevant to the health and wellbeing of children and young people in an accessible way to support local decision making. The Association for Young People's Health (AYPA), with support from Public Health England, has published Young people’s health: Update 2014. The Chief Medical Officer's annual report has underlined the fact that 50 percent of adult mental illness starts before the age of 15 and 75 percent by age 18. The report stresses that early treatment of children's mental illnesses can prevent problems in later life such as unemployment, substance misuse, crime and anti-social behaviour.
