Funding opportunities for young people

The Hilton in the Community Foundation helps young people have a brighter future by investing in improving access to education and investing in the improvement of health care. It supports work with children and young people who are disabled, hospitalised, homeless, or life limited. There is approximately £150,000 available to distribute each quarter in grants up to £30,000 and the remaining 2014 deadlines for applications are 29 July and 14 October. One of the areas the Yapp Charitable Trust supports is work with children and young people aged 5 t0 25 and also education and learning, with a particular interest in people who are educationally disadvantaged, whether adults or children). In recent years the Gordon Fraser Charitable Trust has concentrated on support for charities working with children or young people and those active in the environment and the arts. There has also been a preference for applications from and for Scotland but not to the exclusion of applications from elsewhere. Grants totaling £140,000 are made to about 100 charities each year. The Short Breaks for Disabled Young People (SPARK) fund has announced the launch of the Life More Ordinary Grant Scheme to help young disabled people aged eight to 19 make new friends, enjoy social and leisure-time activities, take part in new experiences and lead a 'life more ordinary'. The Inter Faith Youth Trust will award grants of between £200 and £500 for proposals for inter faith activities by children and young people from Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh and other faiths and those of no formal faith in understanding and cooperation.
