Call for host organisations to join the Action Squad Programme

NCVYS is looking for organisations to host up to five part-time NCVYS Young Facilitators who will support the delivery of Action Squads, after being awarded funding from the Cabinet Office to encourage young people to help others through social action.

The Youth Social Action Fund and Youth Social Action Journey Fund provide a total of £11 million to boost social action opportunities for young people.

NCVYS's Youth Social Action Journey Fund partnership consists of The Canal and River Trust, National Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs and The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. The funding will enable the partnership to spread opportunities through a new Social Action Squad Academy run by young people for young people.

Host organisations will consolidate existing expertise, practice and networks to deliver social action squads, providing 1,500 new environmental and community youth social action opportunities for young people who may want to get involved in the National Citizen Service and those graduating from it.

The benefits to host organisations include:

  • Opportunity to introduce new young people to your organisation;
  • Receive a bursary per young person engaged in Action Squads; and
  • Increase social action opportunities to young people.

Host organisations must:

  • Be a member of NCVYS or affiliated to a NCVYS member
  • Fulfill one of the two remaining action squad themes of Rural or Wildlife;
  • Be able to provide a named person to supervise a young facilitator for the duration of a placement term; and
  • Provide copies of relevant policies.
