Funding opportunities for young people

The Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust have a number of education and wellbeing grants to distribute, typically starting at £500 each, between now and the end of June 2014. The grants support children and young people experiencing issues such as illness, disabilities, behavioural and psychological problems. They can also support other social issues surrounding their family life including abuse, neglect, domestic violence, homelessness, drug and alcohol dependency and poverty. HRH The Duke of York and Nominet Trust have created the Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award, iDEA, an award scheme for 16 to 25 year olds with a flair for all things digital and an entrepreneurial spirit. Over the next five years, the scheme wants to support more than one million young people to pursue their own ideas, develop their digital skills and get to grips with the reality of business. In 2014 it support 1,000 young entrepreneurs during the pilot stage of the project and will invest over £150,000 in seed funding, with 20 of the best ideas set to receive a grant, mentor support and a business placement. The Shackleton Foundation provide up to £10,000 of seed funding and support to enable aspiring leaders and social entrepreneurs to establish their own ventures to help young people in challenging circumstances. Wessex Youth Trust supports projects that provide opportunities to help, support and advance children and young people. Preference is given to pump-priming projects for development and more extensive fundraising initiatives. The Freemasons' Grand Charity supports projects that deliver important services, complement the work of other charities or tackle issues that are less popular with other funders.
