Communities Inc. have produced a resource documenting black community activism in the East Midlands over the last year, copies of which are available to order by organisations working with young people. The project, which was designed to get the younger generation involved in their community, was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund for the East Midlands and took over a year to complete. The BBC has published figures, following a Freedom of Information request to the Department for Education, on the amount spent by local authorities on youth services. They show that spending has fallen from £1.2billion in 2010-11, to £791million in 2012-13, a reduction of 36 percent; but that spending has increased in seven out of 152 areas. Adoptions are 10 times more likely to break down during teenage years than when children are under the age of four, according to government funded research by the University of Bristol, which examined the 37,335 children adopted between April 2000 and March 2011.
