Better Health, Better Care, and Better Value for all? Health Inequalities in Black and Asian Communities

Taking place on Friday 18 October in the Leggate lecture theatre, VGM, University of Liverpool, from 12noon to 3.15pm, this free event includes lunch, stalls, speakers and discussion.

The Health and Social Care Act has introduced the first ever statutory duties relating to addressing inequalities in health. This event will explore some of the challenges and barriers faced by BME communities with regard to fair access to healthcare.

Speakers will include:

  • Diane Abbott, MP Shadow Minister for Public Health
  • Rose Thompson, Director of BME Cancer Communities
  • Stacy Johnson, Lecturer in Nursing, University of Nottingham
  • Dr Alex Scott-Samuel, Senior Lecturer in Public Health, University of Liverpool

This event will be of particular interest to those interested in healthcare, frontline outreach and members of the community, equality and diversity leads, primary care and public health staff, and voluntary and third sector organisations.
