Resettlement law training – 22 November

The Howard League for Penal Reform will be delivering a free seminar on resettlement law in Manchester on Friday 22 November from 9.30am to 4pm, including lunch, for practitioners working with young people leaving custody.

The seminar and guidance were developed in response to calls to the Howard League’s legal advice line from young people in custody.

Young people leaving custody may have a range of complex needs related to accommodation, leaving care entitlements, getting the right level and type of support and being heard by local decision-makers.

By attending the seminar, practitioners will find out more about:

  • The legal principles underlying the provision of resettlement support;
  • The legislation and guidance shaping the provision of resettlement support;
  • Assessing a young person’s resettlement needs for when they are released from custody;
  • Using tools and guidance to help young people upon release from custody; and
  • What a practitioner can and should do to support young people upon release from custody.
