Other youth related consultations

One of the big issues facing those working with young people at a local level is getting those young peoples views heard by the wider community. Community Matters, which champions VCS action at neighbourhood level, has pulled together some do’s and don’ts for getting the voice of young people heard, alongside a range of useful resources. The JustRights campaign is concerned about the impact on young people of cuts to advice services and legal aid and is gathering case studies from youth agencies who are encountering young people who need specialist legal advice, but cannot get it because they cannot find a solicitor or advice agency able to take on their case. To submit a case study email james@youthaccess.org.uk. For further information visit http://justrights.org.uk.

The Low Commission, which is developing an independent strategy for access to advice and support on Social Welfare Law in England and Wales, is consulting on its emerging recommendations. This is an opportunity for organisations concerned about children and young people's access to advice, advocacy and legal representation to influence current thinking. The deadline for submissions is Monday 30 September. The Commission is also holding consultation events in September. For further information visit www.lowcommission.org.uk/Can-you-help.
