Ongoing SFC resources

While the national work of SFC will be coming to an end, the resources that the project has produced will remain online, for local VCSE organisations and commissioners to access and use in their work to navigate the new local commissioning and partnership environment.

The web pages now include some new resources as well as previously produced ones including:

  • Safer Future Communities film: This outlines the role of the VCSE in addressing the wide range of community safety needs and the role of local Safer Future Communities networks in supporting these activities. You can view the film at here
  • PCC youth engagement case studies: NCVYS have collated a series of case studies highlighting good practice of PCCs engaging with young people. These can be found on the PCC Youth Charter website
  • Existing resource - Statistical toolkit: This easy to use statistical toolkit gives data on crime and reoffending, anti social behaviour, arrests by ethnicity, victims of crime, substance misuse, violence against women and girls, youth crime and hate crime. The data can be broken down by police force area.
  • Existing resource – Clinks online learning: These free e-learning courses have been designed to offer you bite-sized information and support with the flexibility to be completed from your office or home, without having to travel or give up a whole day to attend training courses. Current courses include influencing PCCs and media skills.
  • Existing resource - Influencing your PCC: Your case for the PCC, to listen to the knowledge and understanding of the VCSE Sector in setting their plan and ensuring continued funding of VCSE community safety activities, will be stronger if you address the PCCs priorities and frame the VCSEs work accordingly. This document provides guidance on building your case for the PCC.

In addition, A guide to local commissioning within the VCSE Sector, will be available online soon. Based on discussions with PCCs and other local commissioners CLINKS have produced this guide to ensure commissioning and procurement procedures provide the VCSE with a level playing field to bid for and deliver community safety activities. The guide will be published on their website in May 2013.

While Clinks and the Safer Future Communities partners will no longer be delivering this project they will be continuing to support their members to ensure the VCSE Sector is informed about policy developments and able to work effectively. You can sign up to Light Lunch, Clinks’ weekly e-bulletin, which provides readers with a roundup of news and developments in the Criminal Justice System. Light Lunch also features funding opportunities, resources, events, training and sources of support. Sign up here.
