Statistics on young people in education, training and work

The Department for Education has published revised statistics for the participation of 16 to 18-year-olds in education, training and employment for the year ending 2011.

Key breakdowns in the statistics include age, gender, and mode of study, type of learning, institution type, labour market status and highest qualification being studied.

The Department for Education has also published the NEET Statistics - Quarterly Brief for Quarter 4 2012.

The statistics shows that the number of young people not in education, training or work in England has fallen slightly since this time last year, with 893,000 people aged from 16 to 24 not in education, employment or training (NEET) compared with 957,000 for the same period in 2011. Among 16 to 18-year-olds, 153,000 are NEET, the lowest figure in more than a decade for this quarter.
