Annual survey of VCS organisations working with young people

Community Matters has published the results of its annual survey of voluntary organisations working with children, young people and families.

The survey found that funding, especially from local authorities and trusts, is increasingly hard to come by, but did show the power of local fundraising and community donations to keep valued services running.

It also found that there has been a shift towards targeted, rather than universal provision and that levels of youth involvement in developing, delivering and evaluating services have increased substantially, and the appetite for youth engagement is still growing.

In addition, the Overarching Strategic Partnership has published a briefing providing an update on the Ministry of Justice Reducing Reoffending Third Sector Advisory Group report, including details of changes around youth justice.

The briefing also includes information on the current state of affairs for youth offending and youth justice bodies, the implications of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act, as well as the information on education, funding, transitions and resettlement.
