D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership – Update bulletin for the VCS

Welcome to the first update bulletin from One East Midlands on the work of D2N2 LEP and opportunities for relationships with the VCS.

As you are probably aware – D2N2 are the body responsible for stimulating jobs and growth across Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Derby and Derbyshire. From 2014 this includes shaping the investment strategy of European Structural & Investment Funds. More information about D2N2 and their strategies for growth can be found on the D2N2 website at www.d2n2lep.org, and you can register for their e-newsletter via their website.

D2N2 are keen to work proactively with the VCS and wider ‘civil society’ in ensuring their plans and strategies enable inclusive growth and actively combat poverty and disadvantage across the LEP area. Progress began last year with the appointment of a VCS Board member to the LEP (Rob Crowder, CEO of Rural Community Action Nottinghamshire) and a deputy (Don Hayes, CEO of Enable) to ensure high level engagement. Rachel Quinn, CEO of One EM also sits on the D2N2 EU Sub Group to ensure sector perspectives are fed in from a technical basis.

Most recently, D2N2 have agreed to invest some resource into the development of a social inclusion framework for Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham  and Nottinghamshire and in clarifying the delivery offer from the third sector across LEP programmes and activity. Progress so far on this agenda includes:

The first task for the group is to develop investment priorities that will shape the Big Lottery Fund offer to match-fund a proportion of the ESF allocation for anti-poverty and social inclusion work. To support this we are today launching a short consultation to gather views on priorities and approaches to addressing local inclusion issues. The initial consultation runs until Friday 13th June 2014.

More information can be found here and the survey can be completed at www.surveymonkey.com/s/MN8XQSF.

We will be keeping you regularly informed of progress so please keep an eye on our website and the D2N2 page for updates between bulletins.
