Safer Future Communities Bulletin

April 2013

Welcome to the final edition of the Safer Future Communities e-bulletin for the networks led by One East Midlands in Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire, following the Home Office funding coming to an end on 31 March 2013.

Since being appointed in February 2012, One East Midlands has seen the four networks increase to 205 members from VCSE organisations as it worked to engage the sector with and influence PCCs and the wider local commissioning environment.

This work has included provided three opportunities for VCSE organisations in each county to meet their PCCs, both pre and post election, circulated monthly e-bulletins to network members, provided each elected PCC with welcome packs full of case studies of your fantastic work and more. For further information visit www.oneeastmidlands.org.uk/sfc.

PCCs were elected in November 2012. From April 2013 they will have control of a Community Safety Fund from which they will be able to fund activities to address crime and reoffending, community safety and the needs of victims, at their discretion, in line with their police and crime plans. Central government funding in support of such activities will come to an end.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the SFC network members for helping us ensure that the VCSE in your county is viewed by your PCC as a key partner for determining community safety priorities and delivering activities to meet these.

Please also note that we will continue on an ad hoc basis to send you any information relating to crime prevention and community safety that we think might be of interest to you. If you would prefer not to receive this information please let us know by emailing information@one-em.org.uk and we will remove you from the mailing list.
