Government consultation on proposals for the local system to fund supported and sheltered housing - runs until 13 February 2017

The Government has launched its consultation on proposals for the local system to fund supported and sheltered housing. It has also published its Supported Accommodation Evidence Review.

The consultation will run until 13 February 2017 and follows the Government’s announcement in September about the future system for supported housing.

The consultation covers:

  • fair access to funding, including the detailed design of the ring fence and any additional protections
  • local roles and responsibilities
  • arrangements to provide oversight and assurance
  • the appropriate balance between local flexibility and stability
  • developing a funding model for short term accommodation, including hostels and refuges.
  • Next steps

The National Housing Federation are running two webinars about the consultation on the following topics:

Tuesday 13 December - the implications of the Government’s proposals

Monday 23 January - the Federation’s response to the consultation based on our discussions with members and other stakeholders throughout the consultation period.

You are also welcome to send your thoughts to supportedhousing@housing.org.uk.

The Government will also run its own task and finish groups to work across the five key issues outlined in its consultation. These groups will run in tandem with the consultation and report back to the Government.
