Children, Young People and the NHS Constitution

CDC and NCB have developed new resources to raise awareness of children and young people’s rights under the NHS Constitution and empower them to be involved in their own and health and care.

The Get Your Rights Website

The Get Your Rights websites new interactive website in partnership with children and young people to explain their rights when using the NHS.

The website has an interactive guide to the rights in the NHS Constitution, videos from young people telling their stories about how the rights have made a difference to them, and messages from professionals explaining why they value young people’s rights.

It also has links to resources to support applying those rights in practice.

The Get Your Rights Toolkit

The Get Your Rights toolkit has practical resources to helps professionals have conversations with children and young people about their rights in the NHS Constitution.

It has been piloted by local Healthwatch organisations across the country, who used it in lots of different ways with diverse groups of children and young peoplefrom introducing basic concepts about rights to planning campaign to improve local services.

The resources are based on research carried out with children and young people across England.
