About us
The voluntary and community sector in the region

The East Midlands voluntary and community sector is vibrant, complex and diverse. It has at least 40 regional and 200 local networks and associations with a combined constituency of at least 30,000 organisations.

Third Sector

The third sector refers to the range of organisations and structures that occupy the space between the state and private sector. These include small local community and voluntary groups, registered charities both large and small, foundations, trusts and the growing number of social enterprises and cooperatives.

    • Promoting the sector and our members
  • Strengthening - Supporting the development of the sector:
    • Training
    • Sharing best practice
    • Supporting collaboration

Who we Work With

One East Midlands has its roots involuntarya nd community organisations. It works in partnershp with stakeholders across the third sector to ensure that there is active and genuine engagement with key regional bodies and other partners from across the public, statutory, business and social enterprise sectors.

Traditionally, each part of the sector has been distinct but the edges are increasingly blurred as more third sector organisations are commissioned to deliver statutory services. This means organisations from public, private and voluntary and community sectors can work in partnership to deliver holistic services.
