One East Midlands aims to keep the voluntary and community sector informed about these changes and where possible contribute to policy and strategy development.

New guidance to improve services and lives for people living with bladder and bowel problems

NHS England has published new guidance to help improve the care and experience of children and adults with continence issues.  It encourages much greater collaboration between health and social care, working in partnership with the third sector, as set out in the NHS Five Year Forward View.

New “Get Your Rights “ [when using the NHS] website for Children and Young People launched

Get Your Rights is a new interactive website which has been developed in partnership and co-produced with children and young people, to support children and young people to understand their rights when using the NHS in an interactive and accessible way. 

Do clinicians support people in taking an active role in their care?

NHS England conducted a survey of over 1750 clinicians to understand their support for patient activation, exploring their attitudes, beliefs, self-reported behaviours and practices which provides insight into their perceived barriers and support needs. The findings of this survey are now available.

Heath Charter update

The Voluntary Organisations Disability Group (VODG), National Development Team for Inclusion (NDTi) and National Care Forum (NCF) have launched a new report describing how providers use the health charter in practice. The report is accompanied by refreshed guidance.
