Valuing volunteering in Health and Social Care

This symposium, taking place on Thursday 2 October from 10am to 4pm at Leeds Metropolitan University, will explore how the VCS can use research to demonstrate the impact of volunteering to commissioners and funders in the health and care economy.

Hosted by the Health and Social Care Volunteering Fund, CSV and Leeds Metropolitan University, the event will feature contributions from researchers and representatives of UK and European civil society organisations who are developing their capacity to improve the way in which they capture the impact and social value of volunteering interventions in improving health and well-being.

An interactive event, participants will be encouraged to share their own experiences and consider the importance of measuring impact and the opportunities and challenges involved in doing so.

It is expected that the event will both offer and generate practical ideas about how volunteer involving agencies can use evidence of impact research techniques to compete more effectively in a demanding, outcomes focussed commissioning and funding environment.

The event will be of particular value for volunteer managers but also for colleagues across the academic and public sectors with an interest in researching and understanding the impact of volunteering as an effective intervention in meeting health, care and support needs.
