New Guidance to NHS England Commissioners to Strengthen Patient and Public Participation

NHS England have published  new guidance to strengthen patient and public participation in NHS England’s direct commissioning activities. Together with the existing participation framework for primary care, the new frameworks (for public health, armed forces, health and justice and specialised services) may also be of interest to people who want to know more about participation in health services.

The frameworks provide practical guidance on the best ways to involve patients and the public and include good practice examples and links to resources and voluntary and community sector organisations to support participation. The frameworks have been developed with stakeholders including patient and public voice partners and representatives of the voluntary and community sector.

Information for patients and the public about how to get involved can also be found on the NHS England Involvement Hub.
