Update on ministers in the Department of Health in the new government:

The new ministerial team at the Department of Health is in place

Jeremy Hunt remains Secretary of State for Health.

Jane Ellison remains Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Public Health.

David Prior [now Lord Prior of Brampton] the former Conservative MP for North Norfolk and former chairman of Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital has been appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for NHS Productivity He will stand down as CQC chair to take up the new role and be made a life peer in the House of Lords so that he can join the government.

Two new faces join the UK government’s health team.

Ben Gummer has been appointed as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Care Quality. End of life care is in his portfolio.

Alistair Burt has been appointed as Minister of State for Community and Social Care. His portfolio includes adult social care, older care and primary care.
