Would you like to empower your staff and volunteers to help improve the health and wellbeing of older people?

The Cascade Training Programme, funded by the Big Lottery Fund, has trained over 1400 volunteers and staff across 70 organisations to support over 5500 older people. Age UK are offering training for local partners and other organisations. They are running two free events which they would like to bring to your attention.

1.       Spreading the Word! Free Interactive Conference

17th June 2015, 10:30 – 16:00

Coventry University Technology Park, CV1 2TT

Reaching older men, BME communities, befriending and telephone befriending; we’ll take a look at the approaches used by the programme’s consultants to empower staff and volunteers to confidently tackle these areas. Presentations, panel discussions and interactive workshops.

2.       Come to Tea! (Or…breakfast at least): Health and Wellbeing in Care Homes.

          23rd June 2015, 9:00 – 11:45

Tavis House, 1-6 Tavistock Square, London, WC1H 9NA

The ‘Come to Tea’ project has worked with 16 care home providers to train over 500 volunteers and staff to support over 2200 care home residents. Join Age UK and NAPA (National Activity Providers’ Association) for a unique opportunity to find out how your organisation can be empowered to work with care homes to do the same.

Please get in touch with Kathleen O’Donnell on kathleen.odonnell@ageuk.org.uk as soon as possible if you or someone in your organisation would like to attend.
