A new report says a lack of recognition and communication are key to poor end of life care

A new report Dying Without Dignity that gives details of people’s poor experiences of end of life care was published on the 20th May 2015 by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman.

The report reveals several examples of where patients and their families had negative experiences at the end of their life due to such things such as poor communication, a lack of out of hours support and a lack of recognition that the person was dying.

Professor Sir Mike Richards, Chief Inspector of Hospitals, at the Care Quality Commission, has commented on Dying without Dignity report on the CQC Website, Read his comments here
