Funding opportunities for young people

Children England has published its quarterly Funding List at www.childrenengland.org.uk/the-funding-list. The Funding List provides information on nationwide funding streams that are currently available to VCS organisations, along with details of the regional areas the funding covers, deadlines for applications, key contacts, funding amounts and particular areas of interest.

O2 Think Big aims to find young people aged 13-25 with great ideas and help them turn their ideas in to reality by providing funding, training and support. Projects have to help the community or tackle a problem with society. Grants between £300 and £2,500 are available but applications cannot be made directly for £2,500. Round four of the Time to Change grants fund is now open. Time to Change funds projects that create opportunities for people with mental health problems to share their experiences with the public in informal one-to-one conversations. In this round, they are welcoming applications from children and young people projects working in any region of England. The deadline for applications is Wednesday 18 September. IdeasTap is an arts charity established to help young, creative people at the start of their careers and is responsible for providing Ideas Fund – Innovators, which provides ten awards of £500 to projects that are inspiring, original, innovative and that can be delivered in all creative disciplines in the UK. The British Record Industry Trust, entirely funded by the music industry, considers all applications which meet the criteria within its mission statement 'to encourage young people in the exploration and pursuit of educational, cultural or therapeutic benefits emanating from music'. Applications are only considered annually at a Trust meeting in September so need to be submitted by the end of August. For further information visit www.brittrust.co.uk.

Schools, registered charities and not-for-profit organisations wishing to encourage young people's interest either in the countryside and the environment, the arts or aiming to raise levels of literacy and numeracy can apply for funding to the Ernest Cook Trust.
