PCC welcome packs

In February 2013, One East Midlands presented each of the elected PCCs in Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire with a welcome pack.

The welcome packs were designed to provide a brief summary of the VCSE in their county and other information that might be of interest, producing in conjunction with members of each Safer Future Communities network.

One East Midlands would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has taken the time to contribute to the packs, which each contained:

  • Background on the VCSE in the county
  • A list of VCSE organisations who are members of the SFC network in the county.
  • Case studies to illustrate the work of the VCSE in the county
  • A guide to commissioning the VCSE
  • Information on the use of grants as an alternative to commissioning
  • Information on the Public Services (Social Value) Act which places a duty on public bodies to consider social value ahead of procurement
  • Information on The Compact, which is the agreement between government and the VCSE for effective partnership working
  • Information on how drug/alcohol services can help reduce crime and save money
