One EM member shortlisted for 2013 IMPACT Awards

One East Midlands would like to congratulate one of our full members LASS on being one of the 20 organisations shortlisted for the 2013 GSK Impact Awards, which are in partnership with The King’s Fund.

Set up in 1987, LASS is an independent voluntary organisation providing a range of services for people in the City of Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland, affected by HIV/AIDS.

The GSK IMPACT Awards have been running since 1997 and are designed to recognise and reward charities that are doing excellent work to improve people's health. They are open to registered charities that are at least three years old, working in a health-related field in the UK, with a total annual income between £10,000 and £1.5million.

This year the awards received over 400 applications. Each application was scored against the IMPACT criteria and after three rounds of shortlisting 20 organisations were selected, including LASS.

All 20 shortlisted organisations will now be assessed and go forward for formal judging in January next year. The awards will then be split as follows:

  • Up to ten winners will receive £30,000
  • Up to ten runners up will receive £3,000
  • One overall winner will receive an additional £10,000.
