07 September 2010 - Listening to You - Part of the All in One Project |
Community and voluntary groups in Nottingham who involve people living on low incomes and suffering social exclusion are invited to take part in the All in One project and help involve their community, starting with Listening Events. This event is in Nottingham however, please look out for information on forthcoming Listening Events in September in Leicester, rural and coastal Lincolnshire, Lincoln, Kettering and/or Corby, and Bolsover.

24 September 2010 - The next SMART Social Enterprise visit is to Hockerton Housing Project |
SMART SE visits are open to anyone in the East Midlands with an interest in social enterprise. Hockerton Housing Project (HHP) is the UK's first earth sheltered, self-sufficient ecological housing development. The residents of the five houses generate their own clean energy, harvest their own water and treat their own waste water causing minimal pollution & carbon dioxide emissions.

30 September 2010 - Third Sector Summit. |
CLAHRC-NDL (Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care - Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire) is an applied health research partnership, funded by the National Institute for Health Research and one of only nine across England. Third sector organisations are crucial providers of health and social care. The CLAHRC would like to develop a formal role for third sector representation. This will be someone who has knowledge of the sector and can act as a link between researchers, statutory providers and third sector organisations.

05 October 2010 - Financial Awareness and Investment Readiness (FAIR) Learning Programme |
The Financial Awareness and Investment Readiness (FAIR) Learning Programme will be available to advisers in Third Sector Infrastructure Support organisations who find themselves more and more frequently asked about how to set up or fund a social enterprise. Requests may be coming from community groups with an asset, voluntary organisations looking to contract with the public sector or charities that want to set up a trading arm. Wherever the request springs from we want to ensure that third sector advisers are prepared to deal with it.

Supported employment is central to achieving the goal of the 2009 cross-government strategy Valuing Employment Now which is to radically increase the number of people with moderate and severe learning disabilities in paid work by 2025. The role of learning providers in embedding the supported employment model in vocational courses, is a crucial part of achieving this goal.

18 October 2010 - Free Course on Trading to Create New Income Streams |
The Development Trusts Association is now accepting expressions of interest to participate on thier Community Sector Trading course starting in October. Community Sector Trading is a free course that offers practical learning based on real experience of the ‘nuts and bolts’ of running a business in the community. It is delivered through a mix of face-to-face and live online sessions that aim to help participants understand how voluntary and community organisations can develop their trading activities.

18 October 2010 - East Midlands Poverty Convention |
The first East Midlands Poverty Convention is taking place at the historic Southwell Workhouse on October 18th. These are difficult and rapidly changing times and we need to try and ensure that policies, services and resources do not make poor people’s lives poorer.
This convention will bring together the main issues and ideas from the All in One local events and festivals held between April and November. The All in One project is to mark 2010 as a special year about people sharing ideas and experience, and enable our region to speak out about poverty and social exclusion, and attract the interest of decision makers and the media.

This course gives an overview of the benefits of using the arts with young people at risk and covers essential areas when doing so. Participants are given an understanding of youth arts and youth culture and the skill set needed to successfully design, fund, manage and market an appropriate arts project.
