Better Data: applying public health data to build the business case for your service 19/3/15 - post event page

Better data: Applying Public Health data to make the business case for your serviceevent took place in Derby on 19 March 2015.

The event provided an opportunity to build upon the success of the ‘Better data: Understanding open health data and intelligence to make the business case for your work’ events organised by One East Midlands and Public Health England in 2014, through the wider involvement of commissioners and professionals involved in the assessment of business cases from the third sector.

Delegates learned in greater detail how third sector organisations could effectively use publicly available data and intelligence to support their work and influence within health and wellbeing.

Specific expert input was provided by colleagues in Public Health England (PHE), National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) on about the wealth of data and evidence that is available; to enhance understanding of the relationship between intelligence, data, evidence and evaluation.

This expert input was complemented by two ‘Question and Answer’ panels containing representatives from third sector organisations working with the Better Data project, Local Authorities, Clinical Commissioning Groups, Fundraising Specialists and the main event speakers to help illustrate the practical value of tools and resources within a business planning context.
